Romans 8:15 You received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”

I remember the day that we got our dog Posey. We were so excited! We decided as a family that we would adopt a dog from a dog rescue mission. A dog rescue mission is a group of people that care about animals. They rescue dogs who do not have families to take of them and place them in homes with loving families.

The dog that we were going to adopt had been found wandering alone in a garbage dump in a  community far away. We had looked at several pictures of dogs before we finally decided on this dog. When we opened the gate to the yard where our new dog was waiting for us, Milo and I were pounced upon by the friendliest, shaggiest, black and white puppy we had ever seen! We were smothered in kisses by our new family member, Posey.

The Bible says in Romans 8:15 “You received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.””

Just like Posey was adopted into our family, we have been adopted into God’s family when we put our trust in his Son, Jesus. So, God is now more than our creator, He is our Father too! We can call Him Father. He chose us to be in His family, just like Milo and I chose Posey to be in our family!
