Word of the Day
RIGHTEOUS
Romans 5:19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
I had a math test today. I would have got 100% right, but I made such a dumb mistake on it and got 90% right. Check it out:
563 – 75 = 638
I argued with the teacher that I had got the answer right. I just couldn’t see how this answer was wrong until the teacher showed me.
He took an eraser and changed the “-“ sign to a “+” sign.
563 + 75 = 638
Oops! I was supposed to complete the equation with a plus sign, not a minus sign. That one change made the equation right.
This reminds me of a Bible verse I read in Romans 5:19.
For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
None of us are “right” with God. Even if we consider ourselves a good person we still sin sometimes. This sin gets in between us and God.
Just like my teacher came along and erased my mistake and made the equation right, Jesus came along to take the punishment for our sin when he died on the cross. When he did that, he made us RIGHTEOUS or right with God.
It’s not that we always get the equations fully right. We still sin sometimes. But when we put our faith in Jesus he makes us RIGHTEOUS. I’ll be more careful on the next test to get it right!
