Colossians 1:13-14  He has saved us from the kingdom of darkness. He has brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.  Because of what the Son has done, we have been set free. Because of him, all our sins have been forgiven.

Easter is near the top of the list of favorite holidays to celebrate for Milo and A.J.! What is your favorite holiday? Christmas is often at the top of many people’s list because of all the fun things we do to celebrate it. Christmas is important because we are celebrating when God’s Son, Jesus, came to earth as a baby. But did you know that Easter is just as important a holiday to celebrate as Christmas?

That’s right! Let’s look at this Bible verse from Colossians 1:13-14:

He has saved us from the kingdom of darkness. He has brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.  Because of what the Son has done, we have been set free. Because of him, all our sins have been forgiven.

Jesus had to come to earth as a baby, face temptation to sin and overcome it. All this was to prepare him to face death on the cross. When sin came into the world through Adam and Eve, people lived in the kingdom of darkness. This is because sin separated us from God’s light. But when Jesus died on the cross, he rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and brought us into his kingdom! Easter is all about God’s rescue mission! That is what makes Easter such an exciting holiday to celebrate!
